About

At the Bininj Kunwok Regional Language & Culture Centre (BKRLCC) we support the maintenance and revival of Indigenous Australian languages and cultures across Kakadu National Park and western Arnhem Land. As an Indigenous-controlled organisation, we employ and engage with community language workers, senior knowledge holders, and language and culture specialists working together to ensure that language and cultural knowledge remains in the hands of and is protected by the communities to whom it belongs. We are the only organisation in the region exclusively focused on language and cultural heritage management, and are growing our capacity to support more than 10 languages. Through our work, we create opportunities for community members of all generations to design, monitor and participate in language and cultural activities, strengthen the intergenerational transmission of traditional and contemporary knowledge between senior and emerging generations, and build greater community capacity to maintain and revitalise language and culture for the future.
